Slide 21: The Fifth D ((To-)Dos): Google Glass Alerts and Follow Up Reminders

(Take me to the beginning of these slides, from my Society for Health Systems Healthcare Systems Process Improvement Conference presentation on Google Glass and health IT workflow, immediately before HIMSS14. Text accompanying slides is colloquial because it was transcribed from audio recording.)

Finally we get to alerts and follow-ups. Personally, while I’m impressed with a wide variety of innovative Glass apps for healthcare in development. However I think healthcare workers will most appreciate being able to receive intelligent alerts and reminders on the go, just like what I believe consumers will most appreciate in the retail market. An alert is more time sensitive, as in you need to know this NOW (even, say, if you are in a meeting), while reminders are more the nags we need to finally get around to completing some task.
