2004 EHR WfMS Tutorial Slide 47: EMR EHR Practice Survey: Effect of Usable Workflow on Revenue

(Take me to the beginning of these slides!)

Revenue and things that have to do with revenue–there was a 34 percent increase in exam rooms, which presumably was driven by a 13.5 percent increase in visits per day. There was a 17 dollar in charges per visit. Of course EHRs without workflow management systems also note an increase in charges per visit due to the code that are sent to the billing system being generated as a by product of the documentation process. The increase in patient volume and charges per visit resulted in a 30 percent increase in billing. There was a 61 percent decrease in denied claims resulting in a 24 percent increase in revenue.
